Yenagoa, Nigeria, 04. November 2025: ATECH Polytechnic has formally inaugurated the 2025 cohort of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) trainees, marking a major milestone in its mission to provide purpose-driven, hands-on education that empowers youth with employable and entrepreneurial skills.

The inaugural event, held at the ATECH Polytechnic campus in Yenagoa, brought together 135 trainees across four vocational disciplines carefully selected for their relevance to Nigeria’s growing economy and community needs. The intake includes 45 trainees in Fashion and Garment Making, 41 in Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Installation and Maintenance, 20 in Electrical Installation, and 29 in Hospitality and Catering Management.

Speaking during the ceremony, chairman of the Governing council of ATECH Polytechnic, Prof. Jason Osai emphasized that the program underscores the institution’s commitment to shaping a generation of innovators who are equipped not just with technical know-how but with a clear sense of purpose and societal responsibility.

“This initiative is about more than skills training,” Prof Osai said. “It’s about equipping our young people to solve problems, create jobs, and drive meaningful progress in their communities. Through this partnership with the federal Ministry of Education’s TVET, we are cultivating a workforce that can power the industries of tomorrow.”

The training program combines classroom instruction, practical workshops, and industry attachments to ensure graduates are ready for real-world employment or self-employment upon completion. With a focus on renewable energy, sustainable fashion, modern hospitality, and electrical technologies, ATECH Polytechnic aims to align its training outcomes with both local development priorities and global sustainability goals.

Mr James Achogbuo the registrar of ATECH Polytechnic who doubles as the coordinator of the TVET Program, noted that ATECH’s approach blends traditional craftsmanship with modern innovation.

“Our curriculum is industry-informed and purpose-driven,” he said. “We’re training not just technicians but creative problem solvers who understand the purpose and impact of their work.”

The inauguration featured inspirational addresses from industry experts, faculty, and representatives of partner organizations, who encouraged the trainees to seize the opportunity to learn, collaborate, and innovate.

In her motivational letter to the trainees, Dr Dressman RosaLyn the founder of the institution encouraged the students to hold their heads high and to open their hearts. She said “Be curious, be kind, be unstoppable. The road ahead is yours to travel and every lesson learned here will become a part of who you are… because in the end, the knowledge gained is yours to keep. It cannot be given back to the trainers”

With this cohort, ATECH Polytechnic continues to solidify its reputation as a hub for technical excellence and vocational empowerment in the Niger Delta region. The institution’s TVET partnership initiative reflects its broader vision to empower innovators and shape the future through education that is relevant, inclusive, and transformative.
